The Artist
I settled in a Retirement Home in Dorchester, Dorset, UK. I could then attempt larger canvases using Acrylic Paint, and painting flat on my table.
I have no qualifications or degrees.
I have not read books on “how to do” or the volumes on other artists, but of course I have seen what they do and have found inspiration from them.
I just paint what inspires or challenges me and thus I have no particular theme, but I do have a trait to paint what is bright and dominant.
Of course I have to paint from photographs taken by myself with throw away cameras, or by others in publications, and this latter you may feel could create a copyright issue.
There is little creativity in most photographs as even mobile phones can take excellent photos with the main skill being the border or frame determining the distance, angle and light, the object being photographed being an act of God.
In no way is what I paint a “Copy” as size, colour, medium are all different and the picture is from my brain and via my hand and therefore is my creation.
At atomic levels nothing would be the same. Thus I regard my paintings as only “similarities” to any original. A good example is listed below. Of Earth;Of Space.
Mystic Mountain is in a Shape in the Carina Nebula and is not visible to the naked eye. Any photo is produced by overlapping astronomical photos that record different emerging frequencies of each element frequency has been given a different colour.
So how else could anyone paint it and claim copyright? If someone was inspired to do a similarity of a painting I had done, or stole it, I would be very pleased not angry.
I don’t paint for money but, on my death, I would hope some good cause would benefit.
