Notes
Turned through 90 deg it can be called “Misty Spring Morning Swanage” as a portrait painting.
This canvas started life as “Weymouth Harbour” but I decided it was too dark. The whitened canvas then became “Swanage at Sunrise” which was just as dark.
This was in Portrait form. Tipped over on its side I liked it as “Mariupol” that was then under Russian bombardment. But no-one wanted to be reminded of the war.
It was like a modern Turner, indeterminate sooner than abstract. I could look at it and imagine shapes for hours.
Then along came a Birthday Card with a spray of blossom that I was going to paint on a white background. I had the inspiration to paint it on top of Mariupol.
Thus you get the implication that despite the efforts of mankind to destroy itself, uncaring Nature carries on.
