This really is magic. I was sent a card of a snow covered dry stone wall, snowy fields, and a Barn Owl.  I just had to paint. 

But the only old canvas I had was of “Dorset Poppyfields” – a painting that most women liked but it did nothing for me. 

Unfortunately it had had two previous pictures underneath and its surface was bumpy and pitted with previous acrylic paint. 

I used an old tattered decorating hard bristle brush, to whiten, first lengthwise then shortwise.

As snow in shadow tends toward blue I put 2 separate layers of weak Paynes Grey on the slightly glossy white. 

It would not stick but miraculously settled in the hollows and formed a beautiful hoarfrost on dead grasses background that I could not have painted. 

The wall vanished into a ridge of snow. Absolutely fabulous. Took only 2 hours in total. 

My best ever? Or fates? Everyone loves it.
